Journal Archives

                                                                               Hi. I'm Liz.

Liz DaSilva + Photography: I've been photographing weddings in the Vail valley since 2004. I got my start assisting some truly brilliant photographers in the mountains (see first journal entry). In 2008 I relocated to Denver, so now I have the best of both worlds -- city scene and mountains nearby.

Me: Photography started with my mom. Let's just say I had a very well-documented childhood. Mom's creative talents also inspired me to find my own forms of expression.  I've dabbled with painting, pottery, sculpture, Salsa dancing, harmonica (poorly, but with enthusiasm) and most recently, Ukulele. Photography seems to be the one constant.

What inspires me is human ritual -- the things we've been doing since the beginning of time, in some form or another.  Dance, art, weddings, birth, family, music... all expressions of life. I love observing the connections between people and their world. To document someone's special moment is an honor; it's all about the moment.

Also inspired by: the smell of beeswax, perfectly-ripe avocados, caipirinhas, thrift store treasures, quirky questions, latte art, unexpected bursts of laughter, Thai food, and the textures of tree bark.

Thanks for stopping by.   Liz
